Van Nistelrooy to miss return

Ruud van Nistelrooy will miss Hamburg's Europa League clash with PSV Eindhoven on Thursday evening due to injury.

The veteran Netherlands striker missed last weekend's goalless draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga with a thigh strain and will not travel to Holland for the second leg of the last 16 tie.

Van Nistelrooy, who joined Hamburg from Real Madrid in January, was desperate to face his former club at the Philips Stadion.

"We want to take any chances," said assistant coach Eddy Sozer. "Ruud is still under a rehabilitation schedule."

Hamburg lead their last 16 tie 1-0 following the first leg in Germany last week.
