Hamburg without van Nistelrooy for Bayern match

Bundesliga outfit Hamburger SV have received some disappointing news from the treatment table in the build-up to the highly anticipated league game against table toppers Bayern Munich.

Head coach Bruno Labbadia will once again have to make do without prolific hitman Ruud van Nistelrooy as the striker has been ruled out of Sunday's game due to injury.

"I really wanted to play against Bayern Munich, but I won't make it in time. I'm not yet fully match fit and it wouldn't make any sense to include me in the match squad," said van Nistelrooy on the official HSV website.

Van Nistelrooy has been sidelined for the majority of this campaign due to a string of injuries. Consequently, the Dutch striker sits as far down as 2296th in the Castrol Rankings.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether midfielder Marcell Jansen and attacker Mladen Petric will play on Sunday. Jansen is being plagued by a stomach infection, while Petric has picked up a knock in Thursday's 3-2 Europa League loss against PSV.
